Kings Cross
<<< back to gallery These photographs were shot over a six month period during the latter part of 1970 and early 1971 at a time when American servicemen from Vietnam were enjoying R & R breaks in Sydney. Many of them hung out in the Cross where all sorts of services had sprung up to help relieve them of their dollars. It was a unique time in the history of Kings Cross.
In 1971 Rennie Ellis and co-photographer and close friend, Wesley Stacey, published Kings Cross Sydney which according to Ellis, "examines the surface glitter and underground guts of the Cross"
